DAILY ROAD TRIP TO NAFPLIO

Nafplio or Anapli is a city in the Peloponnese as well as the main port of the eastern Peloponnese. It is 1 hour and 51 minutes (167 km) from "Eleftherios Venizelos" Athens International Airport. Nafplio was the first capital of the newly born Greek state between 1823 and 1834. The town was an important seaport held under a succession of royal houses in the Middle Ages.

In Nafplio it is worth visiting the Fortress of Palamidi, with the 857 steps that lead to the ruins of the Venetian fortress, at the top of a hill overlooking the sea. Also noteworthy is Bourtzi, a Venetian castle from the 15th century located in the port of Nafplio and accessible by boat. In addition, in Nafplio, it is worth visiting its multiple museums as well as its beautiful beaches, as a result of which they make it special in the heart of everyone.

Also you can buy some souvenirs from the Old Town’s souvenir shops, certainly “kombolóyia” (a circular chain with beads, usually made of amber used by Greeks to keep hands occupied and ease stress) for the production of which Náfplio is particularly famous, enjoy a cup of coffee or a delicious meal in Syntagma Square and finally sip a drink at the port taking an amazing view of Bourtzi – always lit up at night.
